Write the Docs India
The India chapter of Write the Docs, for people who write and look after documentation.
Technical writers are at the centre of it, whether you write product docs, API references, or manuals for a bank. So are the developers, advocates, maintainers, and translators who end up owning docs, and anyone who would rather contribute to open source by writing than by coding.
The chapter went quiet for a few years and picked up again in 2026. We restarted with a docs devroom at IndiaFOSS in Bengaluru, and we're hoping to get meetups going in cities across the country from here.

3 Give a talk first-timers welcome
Talks at the devroom covered docs tooling, translation, accessibility, contributor onboarding, and writing for AI agents. Several people were giving their first talk. If something from your own work would help other documentarians, pitch it. Short lightning talks and longer talks both work, and the length depends on the meetup.
Propose a talk on GitHub, or post the idea in the WhatsApp community.
4 Start a meetup in your city
We'd love regular meetups in Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, and Delhi NCR (and anywhere else people want one), run by people who live there. If you'd like to start one in your city, message us in the WhatsApp community and we'll work it out with you.
A meetup needs a room with a screen and Wi-Fi for a couple of hours. If your office, college, or coworking space could lend one, tell us. For background reading, Write the Docs keeps a general guide to starting a meetup.
